Met National Council Auditions Announced
Mr. Richard Lauf, District Director for Met Auditions here in the Southern Ohio District, said that auditions will be held here in Werner Recital Hall on Saturday, October 9 this year. The last several years the auditions had been held the first weekend in January. This change came because the winners here will now go to Regional Competition in the Central Region. The Central Region holds its competition the first Sunday in November in the Chicago area. This means that Southern Ohio had to move up the audition schedule. The Central Region offers some advantages. The past three years, the regionals have been broadcast on Chicago radio station WFMT, and each of the singers got a professionally recorded CD of the auditions. We hope to also get local broadcast of the regionals here using the Chicago recording. This timing also enables singers to prepare once, since most of the singers will be preparing their aria packages for CCM Diagnostic auditions and other auditions around that time.
